Nikki Pike: Ovum
December 7, 2026 - May 21, 2027 @ Adams County

Adams County Human Services Building
11860 N. Pecos St., Westminster, CO

Native Colorado bark (cottonwood, ash, elm & ponderosa), steel & wooden armature

Ovum is the third form created in a series of site specific environmental installations. Underlying the work is an invitation for the viewer to consider the impact of human manipulation of the environment, and a call out to the strength of women today.  Ovum possesses an immediate visual simplicity that opens into something much larger. Her geometric bark forms are at once familiar and completely strange. Bark is rough, irregular, organic, and unwieldy. On these precise geometric structures, it begins to feel almost impossible—unnatural, but somehow miraculous.

Created over several  months, Ovum is artist Nikki Pike’s largest work to date. She spent considerable hours in the creation and assembly of the sculpture. Pike constructed and installed Ovum in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado as part of her Green Box artist residency.  An edition of Ovum has also been exhibited at Denver International Airport as part of its DEN Public Art Program. She is excited to have the art installation continue to exude its wonder and whimsy in this Adams County Human Services Center exhibition space.
