Sonic Adventures with David Fodel

Explorations in Sound, Vision & Media Environments: Participants will engage in hands-on experiments and collaborative exercises that interrogate the relationships between image and sound, space and time, signal and noise. Through guided studio work, lectures, critical discussion and inspired in part by the current flagship exhibition, the workshop will delve into core concepts such as audiovisual synchronization and disjunction, generative processes, field recording, feedback systems, live performance technologies, projection mapping, and spatial audio. This workshop meets on 4 Thursdays.

Cost: $200/$180 members

REGISTER

Materials: Materials costs will vary by participant, depending on specific interests and goals. We will be using various digital software tools, utilizing free, open source, or demo version software as much as possible. The artist will provide certain additional tools that can be shared on-site with the group, like portable audio recorders, hardware synthesizers and processors, projectors, interactive controllers and sensors, microcontrollers, spatial sound system components etc.

Instructor Bio: David Fodel is an artist, curator, sound designer and the Director of the Lafayette Electronic Arts Festival (LEAF).
