Anthony Maes:  Reflections of Color
January – March 2025 @ Lester Arnold High School

Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) and artist Anthony Maes present Reflections of Color, two contrasting installations at Lester Arnold High School. Maes narrates an unorthodox yet disciplined convergence of the lives he encounters professionally and artistically. As an event photographer who also has an exploratory studio practice, Maes is grounded in his pursuit of creating work to document his community and those whose lives are often overlooked. Maes directly challenges the simplistic and reductive sophistry from dominant powers to lead by example for Brown and Black youth in the Denver metropolitan area.

About the Artist
Anthony Maes is a highly-productive local Chicano artist. Maes is the co-founder of Denver Photo Swap and a member of the photo collective, Theyshootn.

Our Community Partners 
The Reflections of Color exhibition and associated programs are part of a collaboration between Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) and Lester Arnold High School in Adams County. Through this initiative, BMoCA presents free, museum-quality exhibitions by regional artists at community partners and complementary programs at the libraries and neighboring schools. The collaboration works to expand accessible educational and cultural opportunities for Adams County residents of all ages and backgrounds.

Contemporary Classroom Workshops

BMoCA provides free and fun educational workshops to local schools based on the concepts and craft of our exhibiting artists.
