The Stubborn Influence of Painting
June 10 – September 6, 2021
@ BMoCA

Bringing together a diverse group of nine artists from across the U.S. and London, this exhibition examined how the history of painting acts as a silent collaborator in the work of artists who create in other mediums. The influence of painting connects these artists directly and indirectly, establishing common ground in unexpected ways. Artists included Philip V. Augustin, peter campus, Naomi Cohn, Steven Frost, Alexandra Hedison, Nikolai Ishchuk, Garry Noland, Gelah Penn, Altoon Sultan. Guest curated by Kate Petley.

The works on view included photography, textiles, ceramics, video, and mixed-media constructions.
