Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art offers professional, college and youth internships all year round. Interns have the opportunity to work in a multitude of roles as they get first-hand experience in the museum world.
BMoCA’s internships are unpaid and qualify for college credit or high school community service hours.

Development Internship: Boulder County Farmers’ Market Internship
Four positions, currently available
BMoCA offers visitors to the Boulder County Farmers’ Market free admission all season long. Additionally, BMoCA engages market-goers through a booth located within the market. Interns will interact with visitors and share information about BMoCA’s exhibitions, programs and membership. Interns will receive in-depth training by staff members. Responsibilities include promoting membership and public programs, set-up and tear-down.
Time commitment: 4 1/2 hours a week
Wednesdays, 3:30-8pm – Until mid October

Marketing Internship
Two positions, currently available
The Marketing Intern will assist the Manager of Museum Marketing with various projects, including: social media, the BMoCA website, graphic design projects, online calendar listings, mailings, and the distribution of promotional materials. The intern’s responsibilities will also include assisting with the planning and preparations for the annual auction fundraiser at BMoCA in September.
Qualifications:
Experience with social media required
Experience with WordPress strongly preferred
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign required
Interest in art
Organizational skills

Education Internships
Young Artists at Work Internship: Assistant Instructors
Five Internships. Available June–August 2012
Young Artists at Work is BMoCA’s signature summer art camp and offers youth ages five through twelve the unique opportunity to make art in a museum setting in thirteen independent, half-day, week-long workshops. The hands-on, interdisciplinary and age-appropriate workshops include working with Visiting Artists and interacting with museum exhibitions. Students are encouraged to explore new and exciting methods and materials. Camps take place Monday–Friday, 9am–noon and 1–4pm, with an additional lunchtime camp from noon–1pm.
Assistant Instructors will work with the Director of Education, Visiting Artists, as well as other museum staff to plan and instruct hands-on projects that encourage creativity. Interns must be creative, energetic, work well with others, and have an interest in art education. Interns must also commit to the entirety of the program. This internship is competitive, with only five interns chosen each summer.
The internship schedule includes one orientation meeting, multiple training sessions, and the following workshops (subject to change):

July 2-6 (no camp)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm

Four positions, currently available
Art Stop provides free-of-charge, hands-on art making for youth ages 3 to 11 years old. Held outdoors on the front porch of the museum during the Boulder County Farmers’ Market, Art Stop is the destination point for creative projects designed to complement the exhibitions on display within the museum, as well as the colors and textures of the market. Interns will work closely with the education team to research, plan, and teach projects at the Art Stop booth.
Time commitment: 4-10 hours a week
Saturdays – April 3 to November 20 from 9 am – 1 pm
Wednesdays – May 5 to October 6 from 4 pm – 8 pm

Youth Art Advisory Internship (The Studio Project)
Ten-Fifteen positions, available September 2011-May 2012
Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) is currently accepting applications for its Youth Art Advisory Internship Program, a yearlong commitment open to students currently enrolled in a Boulder County high school. Youth Art Advisory Interns work closely on the development of programming and events for The Studio Project, BMoCA’s teen program. In addition, Youth Art Advisory Interns lead educational tours of the museum’s exhibits as a part of the Docent Program. Youth Art Advisory Interns meet and assist exhibiting artists, visit other museums and galleries and collaborate with teen organizations throughout Boulder and Denver.
This internship is an excellent opportunity for students interested in collaborative program development and arts outreach, as well as behind-the-scenes museum experience. The program requires students to discuss interests and issues that concern teens today. Interns will meet with the museum’s Education Director and other Youth Art Advisory Interns on Wednesday afternoons from 4-5:30pm during the school year, beginning September 2011. Accepted applicants must commit to the entire school year. Interns must have a sincere interest in art, helping the community, and learning about the museum world. They must also be energetic, creative, and work well in collaboration with other teens and adults.
Time commitment: 1 1/2-5 hours a week. Some weeks will only consist of one meeting, while others will consist of both a meeting and a Happening. Interns must commit to the entirety of the program. This internship is unpaid and qualifies for high school community service hours.
