BMoCA's Mission Statement
The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art
is a dynamic venue dedicated to the presentation of significant art of our time. Through an innovative program of regional, national and international exhibition and performance, the museum inspires and educates its communities and visitors from around the world to explore the forefront and evolution of contemporary art.

About BMoCA
In 1972, a group of local artists became concerned with the cultural
activities in Boulder and wanted to provide the community with a center for the arts. The group opened the Boulder Center for the Visual Arts in one-half of a small Victorian house located in downtown Boulder, forming the genesis of the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. In 1976, the Center, with the support of the City of Boulder, moved to its current location in a historic landmark building next to Civic Park. After a series of renovations, the organization was renamed the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art in 1995.

Today, the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art is a recognized leader in the community and stands at the forefront of the contemporary arts. For over 30 years, the museum has presented visual and performing art of all media, featuring the best in regional, national and international contemporary art.

BMoCA offers rich and distinctive programs that serve an increasingly
diverse audience. Featured in its 3 galleries and an intimate, black-box performance space the museum presents a rotating schedule of
thought-provoking work by established and emerging artists.

Now, celebrating 34 years as one of the region’s most active and innovative multidisciplinary art museums, the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art is committed to make contemporary art accessible to the community through exhibition, performance, education and outreach. By presenting regional artists in context with their national and international peers, the organization continues its mission to be a dynamic venue dedicated to significant art of our time.
