John Buck
Woodblock prints and sculpture
April 1 – June 11

John Buck is both sculptor and printmaker. Buck explores the expressive possibilities of woodblock printing through innovative techniques and provocative imagery inspired by the daily news, his own sculptures and nature. Often complex and beautiful backgrounds are overlaid with figurative imagery, which leads the viewer to ponder questions about our world and our place in it. Working in collaboration with Bud Shark, master printer at Shark's Ink, in Lyons, CO, Buck has completed more than 30 woodblock prints, many of which are featured in this exhibit.  His sculptures, of wood and bronze with mixed media and assemblage, relate to his woodblock prints in imagery and sensibility.

Buck resides in Montana and Hawaii. His works have been exhibited widely and are in the collections of museums including; the Museum of Modern Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Seattle Museum.
