BOULDER MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART
Jen
Lewin Interactive sculptor Jen Lewin focuses on the dynamic relationships between the digital and physical worlds. As computer technology advances, Lewin stretches the boundaries of these relationships through live video processing, LED technology and MIDI sound. BMoCA will feature two of Lewin's latest sculptures. Light Curtain captures the real time movement of the viewer and “mirrors” their activity through space. Blurred, ghostlike images of the viewers move and sound through the gallery space, becoming invisible if the viewer stands completely still. Butterfly Wings is a large-scale silk butterfly whose robotic wings can sense user proximity, animating hundreds of LEDS and triggering motors for movement. Lewin has shown her work throughout the country
at venues including the Tisch School of the Arts, Lincoln Center ,
and IEEE. She also served as Creative Director for the Ceren Project
and Ivee Project at The Sundance Laboratory for Advanced Computing
in Design as well as a lead designer for ITN (Saber) in Palo Alto
. Lewin holds an MPS from New York University 's Graduate Program
in Interactive Telecommunications and a BA in architecture. |
