Claire Evans
Claire Evans moved to Boulder in 1954. She moved into a studio in
downtown Boulder and began painting portraits. Contacts with galleries
and art consultants followed, and the studio gradually evolved into
what is now called Art/Work/Space, shared by seventeen artists working
independently.
The paintings, mostly oils, have gone from rather stark construction
sites in the seventies to sunlit window sill still lifes in the eighties.
In 1983 Evans was drawn to the waterlillies and lotuses of the Denver
Botanic Gardens, which she continues to paint and exhibit. When she
moved to the northern outskirts of Boulder , she discovered the extraordinary
beauty of cottonwoods, prairies, and streams.
Evans continues to paint portraits, landscapes and still lifes, and
also gives demos, critiques, and classes. The interchange of expierence
and knowledge with hundreds of students over the years has enriched
her life.
