PHYLLIS BRAMSON
Phyllis Bramson's unique collage paintings are meditations about pleasure, trauma and the difficulty of being. Her world is a utopia in which creatures – not only men and women, but also black rabbits, big naughty cats, snowmen, clowns and Asian ladies in winter parkas all live and play together in some dreamy pink paradise sprinkled with magic glitter. This new series of works on paper is created in Bramson's signature narrative style using painted images, collage and found materials and reveals themes and metaphors about love and affection in a hostile world.

The Chicago native's work has been featured in a number of solo and group exhibitions at renowned institutions such as the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York , the Corcoran Museum of Art in Washington , D.C. , and Printworks in Chicago . Bramson has been awarded an NEA Fellowship in Painting, an NEA fellowship in Printmaking, and a John Simon Guggenheim Grant. She is represented by Carl Hammer Gallery in Chicago and Littlejohn Contemporary in New York .

“You can feel Bramson's paintings in your throat, like the anticipation of something sweet.” – Margaret Hawkins, Chicago Sun times
