Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Ligia Bouton’s video based works emphasize performance. Within the medium of performance Bouton reenacts simple ideas such as, body language, personal space, everyday tasks and makes a parody from their repetitive nature. Her work has been exhibited throughout the country and recently, was featured in “Embodied: Seven Studies in Video,” at the Museum of Fine Arts, New Mexico alongside notable video artists Steina and Peter Sarkisian.
