Designed specifically for middle school students who want to learn how to create, this course will help young artists to understand who they are as individuals, identifying who they are and how that can be used as a source of power. The class will use collage as a tool to express a sense of identity and take ownership of one’s voice and source of self expression.

About the instructor:
Devin “Speaks” Urioste was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. He comes from many different communities and feels that he really embodies his city as a home. David’s work speaks to a couple of different values that he holds close – to represent his community, stay true to his culture, forever seek knowledge, and use his knowledge as a tool to facilitate critical thinking in his community. He has been an educator and facilitator for the past 8 years, and being an educator has taught him how to value others ideas, thoughts, and emotions. He wants his visual work to reflect beauty from all different angles. He also likes to encourage people to wonder and ask questions about themselves and others as well. He strives to take any opportunity to expand his knowledge of his community and be a positive influence within it.
