ARTlab

In 2011, BMoCA launched ARTLab, an ambitious effort to engage underserved high school students in Boulder County with fine arts and an immersive studio art program. BMoCA has presented the program in partnership with Justice High School in Lafayette, Colorado since 2011, and in 2014, the museum began a partnership with Boulder Preparatory School. As Boulder Valley School District Charter Schools, Justice High School and Boulder Preparatory School serve youth challenged by truancy, expulsion, or involvement in the criminal system. Weekly classes, visiting artists, and field trips to museums and studios provide a platform for real-world engagement with the arts. ARTlab empowers teens to build positive futures by expressing themselves through art while also earning credits towards graduation. Through ARTlab, students learn about future careers in artistic fields and to trust their creative voices.

ARTLab is generously supported by Kemper Family Foundations, Anita Sayed, Luff Family Foundation, Studio B Architects, FirstBank, Catherine Allegra & James Tanner, Laurie & Reid Klion, Karen & Jeffrey Moore, Shears Giving Fund, Chris & Thomas Stanko, and Art Parts Creative Reuse Center.
