Originating in Poland in the 1800′s and traditionally constructed from straw and scrap paper, the pajaki, or “spiders of straw”, is a symbol of health and happiness. It is now being reinterpreted and transformed by contemporary artists as a celebratory decoration.

Join artist John B. McRae (California) and Two Hands Paperie to build your own pajaki from specialty materials, which include paper imported from Germany. Enjoy a non-alcoholic summery Sunday sipper while you work.

John is a Featured Visiting Artist at Two Hands Paperie (Boulder). John first discovered pajaki in San Francisco in 2011, was fascinated, and has been making them ever since. No two are alike. His largest pajaki stretches 6 feet tall and 5 feet wide. It hangs at Castle in the Air in Berkeley, California, where he regularly teaches workshops.
