Julie Maren: The Language of Being
February 7 – March 1, 2003 @ BMoCA

The Union Works gallery will feature The Language of Being, new work by Julie Maren. Eight house-shaped sculptures and a set of accompanying paintings comprise the series. As a play on Heidegger’s assertion that “language is the house of being,” Maren’s new work is intended as a sculptural investigation of home as a metaphor for fundamental states including safety, violence, love, and solitude.
